Hope to Dream Slam Dunks with the Houston Rockets

December 18, 2018

The lights were on at the Toyota Center in Houston as 100 children and their families filed in, but they weren’t heading to the basketball arena to catch a game. They were there to receive a brand-new bed.

The beds were provided through the Ashley HomeStore Hope to Dream program, which has provided more than 80,000 beds to children in need since 2010. Many of the Houston-area children were still feeling the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey and were either sharing a bed or sleeping without one. The beds, complete with mattresses, pillows, teddy bears and Houston Rockets blankets were waiting on the home-court for the kids to dive into. Santa Claus and some players from the basketball team were on hand to share in the excitement.
