Jonesboro, AK - Approximately 50 local children will be going into this school year a little more rested thanks to Ashley Furniture, Arkansas State University (ASU), and the United Way. They’ll be providing these kids with new beds at an event Thursday night at First National Bank Arena.

“The importance of sleep for children has been proven time and time again,” explained Arnie Capitanelli, Chief Sales Officer for Ashley. “We believe every kid should have the opportunity to grow up and achieve their dreams – a bed of their very own is one way we’re helping to make that happen.”

The bed sets – which include a mattress, basic frame, as well as pillow and comforter – are donated as part of their Hope to Dream program. Through a Hope to Dream, every mattress purchased at Ashley contributes to providing a mattress for a child who is currently sleeping on the floor, on an unsuitable mattress, sharing a bed, or otherwise in need of a better night’s sleep. So far, 375 children have received new beds this year alone.

“Our theme this year is Dreamers Change the World,” shared Lauren Hamsley, Community Specialist for Ashley . “Parterning with ASU provides an incredible opportunity for these kids to see that with hard work – and a good sleep - they can grow up to be anything they dream of being!”

This is the first ever event Ashley is hosting with ASU and the United Way. “We are thrilled to be involved with a loved community organization like ASU and have a partner like the United Way to work with in Jonesboro,” added Lauren.
